Where History Comes Alive SoloTogether

NOTES FROM THE WINTER  MEETING - 31 January, 2019

Because of the government shut down the meeting was not at our regularly scheduled date and attendance was low.  Attending were:

Mike Francis - Galileo, The Stargazer’s Apprentice

Deborah Anne Goss - Charlotte Cushman, 'Victorian Musicales',  'Anti-slavery songs', Proper Ladies

JoJo LaRiccia - JoJo’s DreamCart

Michael Mack - poet, playwright, performer

Jessa Piaia - Susan B Anthony, Rachel Walker Revere, Amelia Earhart, et al

Ted Zalewski   - Teddy Roosevelt, Postman Roulin, et al

Notes

Ted is thinking of bringing back his Longfellow program.

Deb is working on a Hutchinson Family program with two other musicians  at the Milford Historical Society.  She regaled us with a song of social justice.

Michael Mack will be doing his program at the Paulist Center for a Vatican conference.

Since attendance was low we had a discussion on what kind of programs we’d like to see.

Jo Jo would like to see Michael Jackson as a boy and Jackie Onassis.

Deb though Anna Dickinson the abolitionist speaker and Louisa Adams (John Quincy Adams wife) would make interesting programs. (Judy Bernstein used to perform as Louisa).

Ted has been thinking about Alexander Graham Bell for some time, but he also thought Samuel Gridley Howe - the first director of Perkins School and J.D. Salinger are characters ready  for programs.

We also discussed two person programs.  Are they feasible? No one was sure.
